We are wrapping up our small wedding week with a Flashback to 2012 and the first wedding I had ever photographed on my own!
I have been very lucky to have Pat and Leah in my life from a very young age. Watching these two highschool sweethearts grow their family has been SO fun and they have been gracious role models to me for as long as I can remember. As you browse my page, you are likely to see them, their beautiful children and other family members sprinkled throughout my galleries.
Leah and Pat made a lot of friends over the years together and when it came time to plan their wedding they could not imagine having a traditional wedding without including everyone, so they decided to elope with only immediate family instead.
When they asked me to photograph this wedding in La Jolla I nearly jumped out of my skin. The size of the group and the fact that I already considered them as family made my first professional wedding a breeze.
There were a lot of things that made this small wedding special, but one of my favorite parts of the day was during dinner. They opted to self-DJ their wedding and chose to play each couple in attendance's wedding song as the meal was served. This small detail was so touching and is another reason why small weddings are so amazing.
I look back on these photos and think about how much I have grown as a person and a photographer since this wedding. It is one of those weddings I wish I do again and again.. enjoy!
